Putnam, Mary Edythe Corder at the age of 84, went to be with her Lord and Savior August 22, 2012 after a brief illness. Born September 25, 1927 in Scurry, TX. Many of you knew her as Mary but most of her life she was known as "Edythe". She graduated 1945 from Forest High School in Dallas as the Captain of the drill team, modeled for Neiman Marcus and worked for an insurance agency before she met and married James A. Putnam, Sr. in California in 1947. She was a beloved Mother and she touched numerous lives while she was here on earth. Edythe loved to read and was an avid history buff. She also made beautiful ceramics and worked with the Dallas Police Storefront in her neighborhood in Pleasant Grove. She loved touring plantations and old court houses. She taught a ladies Sunday School Class for many years until her health failed. Edythe was sharp witted and a joy to spend time with. She worked as an admin assistant for McKesson Robbins until she retired in 1988. Her children and grand children were her pride and joy. Survived by daughters, Cheryl Davenport and Donna Lewellen; son, Jim Putnam and his fiancee Lin; grandchildren: Leigh Ann Perry Wooten, Michele Gustafson, Jerry Lewellen, Jr.; great grandchildren: Sherise Anderson, Marcus Ayalas and David Gustafson and great,great grandsons, Dameon Love and Hayden Anderson; Aunt Estelle Calloway and numerous cousins and friends. Edythe left a legacy of love and faith.

Service Monday August 27 at 2:30 PM Restland Memorial Chapel, with visitation one hour prior to the service.

In lieu of flowers, please make memorials to Bethany Baptist Church, Dallas, Texas where she had been a member since 1955.
