Clarence "Sandy" E. Sandy, age 91, a resident of Albuquerque, NM since 1952, passed away on Wednesday, August 22, 2012.
Sandy was born in Danville, IL, and attended schools in Urbana, IL. Sandy attained a BS and MS degrees in electrical engineering at the University of Illinois.
Sandy served as a tank platoon leader and company commander in World War II.
Sandy married Hildred Markland of Miles City, MT in 1945.
Sandy is survived by Hildred, his wife of 67 years, sons, Stephen C. Sandy with Tami Foor of Tularosa, NM and Scott J. and Melody Sandy of Roswell, NM, and grandchildren, Marcus and his wife, Aja Sandy, Savannah Sandy, Keara Sandy, and Taylor Sandy.
Sandy was employed by Sandia National Labs for 32 years, retiring in 1984. Sandy was a member of the New Mexico Army National Guard for many years and retired from the United States Army Reserve in 1980, as a Colonel. Sandy was active for many years in the AUSA and was a past president of the Albuquerque Chapter. Sandy was a member of the Sombre del Monte Christian Church.
Private family services will be held. His cremated remains will be placed at Santa Fé National Cemetery, Santa Fé, NM at a later date.
