NATCHEZ-Funeral services for Mrs. Shirley Mae Stevens, 76, of Natchez, who died Thursday, August 2, 2012 at Natchez Community Hospital, will be at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, August 4, 2012 at First Baptist Church with Dr. Doug Broome officiating. Burial will follow at Natchez City Cemetery under the direction of Laird Funeral Home.Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. Saturday until time of service at the church.
Mrs. Stevens was born November 23, 1935 in Winchester, KY. She was a member of First Baptist Church and the Joy Sunday School Class. She helped manage the Gay and Wilson Store for many years. She was also a member of the Natchez Garden Club. She is preceded in death by her husband, Dean Stevens.
She is survived by her son, Mike Stevens of Livermore, CA; one daughter, Nancy Stevens Cooper and husband, Edwin, of Centennial, CO; her mother, Johnnie E. Gay of Natchez; two sisters, Linda Gay Vermeulen of Perth, Australia and Karen Gay Callon and husband, Fred, of Natchez; one grandson, Steven Edwin Cooper of Durango, CO; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be Fred Callon, Lindsey Callon, Bernie Pyron, Pete Howard, Chuck Gilbert, and Lynwood Easterling.
Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society or the Natchez Adams Humane Society.
