Glyda Boggess Matthews, 86, of Sissonville died Tuesday, Oct. 12, 2004, at CAMC Memorial Hospital after a short illness.

Glyda was born July 22, 1918, the daughter of Franklin W. Boggess and Mahala GARNES, in Sissonville and was a lifelong resident of Allen Fork. She was an inspiration to her family and all who knew her through her kind demeanor, her courage and her loving disposition.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Troy Matthews.

Surviving are: sons, Dennis L. Matthews and companion, Cheryl McKown, of Cross Lanes, Jay A. Matthews and companion, Joan Black, of Winfield; daughter and son-in-law, Linda and Bill Cruickshank of Sissonville; sister, Audrey Boggess of Sissonville; grandchildren, Candace Berger, Kasie Matthews, Ben Matthews, Erin Matthews, Kevin Cruickshank and Scott Cruickshank; and three great-grandchildren.

Service will be 1 p.m. Friday at Cunningham-Parker-Johnson Funeral Home, Charleston, with the Rev. Tom Moore Jr. officiating. Burial will be in Floral Hills Garden of Memories, Pocatalico.
