Died July 22, 1864 in the battle of Atlanta, GA.
William M. Allison was in command of Company E,
18th Texas Cavalry Regiment (CSA). He was killed 22 July 1864 at the Battle of Atlanta and is buried in Oakland Cemetery, Atlanta. Capt William M. Allison married Virgina Rachael Dunn on February 3, 1858 in Smith County,TN. They then moved to Grapevine,TX . They had two children. Martha Allison born 1860, Willie Frances Allison born 1861. Capt Allison was also a doctor there in Grapevine before the Civil War began. The following is a quote from a battlefield report the day after the Battle of Atlanta.

Brigadier General J.A. Smith wrote: "Among the killed was the cool and intrepid Captain William M. Allison of the 18th Texas Regiment, commanding the skirmish line".
These were the main battles his company were involved in:
(Arkansas Post) Capt Allison captured in 1863 and later released. (New Hope Church), (Chickamauga,GA) He was wounded twice. (Dalton,GA), (Ringgold Gap) Ringgold,GA
(Battle of Atlanta,GA)
KIA on July 22, 1864. Capt William M.Allison's father Col R.D.Allison was also in the war between the states. He was in command of Allison's Calvary Squadron made up of men from three tennessee counties, but mainly men from Dekalb County, Tn. Col Allison and his son Wiiliam fought in several of the same battles during the war.
