Oliver Joseph Ogden (son of Samuel Taylor Ogden and Delia Bradshaw Cushing) was born 12 Mar 1860 in Troy, Rensselaer, NY, and died 16 Mar 1937 in N, NJ. He married Margaret Mary Norton on 23 Nov 1881 in Troy, Rensselaer, daughter of Daniel Norton and Mary Cahill.

Notes for Oliver Joseph Ogden by a descendant, Kathy Poulin:

When Oliver Barnet (one t is the correct spelling) wanted to marry Margaret Norton in 1881, he had to become Catholic. When he became Catholic, he dropped the "Barnet" and took the name "Joseph" because at that time the tradition, as with confirmation, was to have a Saint's name -- there was no Saint Oliver at that time. His Baptismal Certificate and his marriage certificate to Margaret Norton both read "Oliver Joseph Ogden" and from 1881 onward he was always known as Oliver Joseph Ogden Sr. No one in the family ever really knew him as Oliver Barnet Ogden. The death certificate also reads Oliver Joseph Ogden and so does the gravestone. The Wheeler book on the Ogden family, however, has him as "Barnet," an allied family name.
