Myrtle Florence (Miller) Peterson Bell

Mrs. Myrtle Florence Bell, the daughter of Charles D. and Ida Henneman Miller, was born on August 15, 1887 in Sac County, Iowa. As a small child she moved to Spencer, Iowa, where she grew up and attended school. She was united in marriage with Peter B. Peterson at Spencer and they lived together for several years and then separated. Later, she was married to Richard Bell at Fort Dodge and Mr. Bell preceded her in death many years ago.

During her life, she and her families had lived in various communities in Iowa, she has lived in Eagle Grove for many years, where she was a dealer for Stanley Home Products and was a member of the Eagle Grove Senior Citizens. She was a member of the Park Church of Christ in Goldfield. She had been able to live by herself and maintain her own home and at the age of 96 years, still had an Iowa drivers license.

She died on Wednesday morning, Feb. 22, 1984, at the Trinity Regional Hospital in Fort Dodge, where she had been a patient for the past few days. She attained the age of 96 years, six months and seven days.

She is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Bernice Rogers of Davenport and Isla, Mrs. Leo Wilhelmi of Fort Dodge; three sons, Charles Peterson of Eagle Grove; Edward Peterson of Twin Falls, Idaho; and Orville Strohman of Lake Park, Iowa; 22 grandchildren; several great grandchildren and a great great grandchild; a brother, Rausel Miller of Eagle, Idaho; two sisters, Mrs. Olive Strohman of Lakefield, Minn.; and Mrs. Viola Wagner of Ruth, Iowa; and many other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husbands, four sisters, and one brother and a grandchild.

Funeral services for Mrs. Myrtle Florence Bell, 96, of Eagle Grove, were held on Friday, Feb. 24, 1984 at 1:30 p.m. at the Park United Church of Christ in Goldfield. David Nissen, church pastor officiated and burial was in the Rose Hill Cemetery, Eagle Grove. Visitation was held on Thursday at the Kastler-Babcock Funeral Home.
