Clyde Benjamin Carroll, 82, of 6294 Norway Road, Norway, died Monday, July 23, 2012, at his residence, surrounded by his loving wife and children. The funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, July 26, at Bethel Baptist Church in Cope with the Rev. Dennis Hall and the Rev. James Knight officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. The casket will be placed in the church one hour before the service. Pallbearers will be grandsons. He was born Sept. 14, 1929, in Bamberg, the son of the late Bennie Carroll and the late Florrie Bassett Carroll. He was a lifelong farmer and a retired dairyman. He was a member of Bethel Baptist Church in Cope. He was preceded in death by a son, Doug Carroll. He is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Carrie Cooler Carroll of the home; three daughters, Linda Bearden, Kim Carroll and Deborah Strickland (Mike), all of Norway; three sons, James "Buddy" Carroll (Dianne), and Greg Carroll (Terri) both of Norway, and Randy Carroll (Gwen) of North Carolina; a brother, Robert Carroll (Faye) of Barnwell; and a sister, Susie Morris (Wallace) of Blackville. He had 18 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren. The family will receive friends at the residence and the funeral home. Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, July 25, at Thompson Funeral Home Inc. in Orangeburg.
