Chester L. Barnard, 91, Kansas City, MO, passed away October 16, 2004, at North Kansas City Hospital. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, October 20 at Independence Boulevard Christian Church (IBCC), Independence Ave. and Gladstone, KCMO. Burial will be in Mt. Moriah Terrace Park Cemetery. Visitation will begin at 10 a.m. Wednesday at IBCC. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Beau Knot Sunday School Class of the church. Chester was born September 7, 1913, in Raymore, MO. He lived in the Kansas City area all of his life and attended Northeast High School. He was married to his wife Lorraine for 69 years. Chester was employed by Faultless Linen Supply and Peerless Cleaners. He was a member of IBCC for 79 years, where he held various positions, including Elder of Esteem. He taught the Beau Knot Sunday School Class for 16 years. He was a Boy Scout leader of Troop 57 and a member of the Tribe of Mic-O-Say. Preceding him in death are two sisters, Helen Perry and Elizabeth Browns, and brother Emmett Barnard. Chester is survived by his wife Lorraine, of the home; son Gary Barnard and wife Barbara, Versailles, MO; daughter Linda Coulter and husband Robert, Springfield, MO; daughter Kathy Townley and husband Harvey, Bella Vista, AR; nine grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and one great-greatgrandchild.
