Mrs. John W. Lee Dies After Short Illness
Mrs. Allie Garrett Lee, age 71 years, passed away at her home ten miles west of this city in Beat Nine on Monday morning of this week at 9:45 o'clock, following a week's illness. She was the wife of John W. Lee, prominent Beat Nine farmer.
The deceased was born and reared near Camp Hill, a member of a prominent East Alabama family, and except for two years had made her home in Chambers County at the present site. She was a member of the Harmony Methodist church and had been active in its affairs for many years. Funeral service was held from Harmony church on Tuesday afternoon at three o'clock, with Rev. A. W. O'Bryant, pastor of the church and deceased, being the officiating minister, and with Revs. Milligan Earnest, of Auburn, and Jones, of Camp Hill, assisting. Interment was in the Harmony cemetery.
Surviving are a husband and two daughters, Mrs. J. T. Still and Mrs. I. D. Harris, both of Chambers County; two sons, Carl and Fred Lee, of Beat Nine; four sisters, Mrs. Lola McBath, Knoxville, Tenn.; Mrs. Mamie Johnson, Langdale; Mrs. Maggie Lee, Chipley; Mrs. Carrie . Baldwin, Atlanta, and three brothers, Dr. O. C. Garrett, Alexander City; Robert Garrett, Macon, and Zollie Garrett, Camp Hill. Pallbearers were Willie Jimmer-son, A. O. Bishop, John Sikes, Roy Lee, Grady Lee and Jim Tucker. Johnson & Company, Lanett undertakers, were in charge of arrangements.
