Richard Erwin Ancell, born March 3, 1904, passed peacefully from this life into the arms of his Heavenly Father, Jan. 1, 2006 surrounded by his loving family, at age 101.

Son of Leonard Ancell and Emma Clark Welsh. His parents divorced when he was very young, so Richard lived with and was raised by his grandfather, who taught him the printing profession at a very early age at the old U of U press. He was a Pressman for 49 years.

Married Maude Estelle Powell May 18, 1927; Maude died November 21, 1969. Married Georgia Hart Samuelson August 30, 1973.

He was active in the LDS Church, held many positions including stake missionary, branch presidency and assistant scoutmaster.

Survived by wife, Georgia Hart Samuelson; son, Douglas F. Ancell (Bonnie); daughter, Shirley Penrose (Russell); stepdaughter, Roxanne Asay (Elliott); stepson, James Samuelson (Kay); 24 grandchildren; 71 great-grandchildren; and 10 great great-grandchildren.

Preceded in death by son, Richard E. Ancell, Aug. 26, 1947.

Visiting, Wed. Jan. 4, 2006, 6-8 p.m. at Cottonwood Memorial Mortuary, 4760 S. Highland Dr. Funeral services Thurs. Jan. 5, 2006, 2 p.m. at Rose Park 9th Ward, 760 N. 1200 W, viewing prior to services 1-1:45 p.m. at the church. Internment, Salt Lake City Cemetery.
