Orangeburg, Nov. 2 - James Talbert Flake of Orangeburg died at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday. Though he had been in failing health for several years, his death was unexpected. Mr. Flake was born near North, a son of the late James William and Jane Gartman Flake. He was a veteran of the Spanish American War. He had worked most of his life at the Orange Cotton Mill before retiring some years ago. Funeral arrangements are incomplete and will be announced by the Dukes Harley Home. He is survived by his widow, Mrs. Mary Jane Jackson Flake; one son by a former marriage, Leon Flake of Orangeburg; four grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren, and two brothers, Will Flake of Sumter and Henry Flake of Atlanta. © The News and Courier, Charleston, SC, 3 Nov 1954
