Son of Abraham Day and Charlotte Katherine Mellon. Came to Moab in 1879 and in 1882 moved his family from Mt Pleasant in a covered wagon pulled by oxen. Resided at Moab for a number of years and operated a small grist mill run by water power on Mill Creek just east of town. Later the family homesteaded on Wilson Mesa and for many years resided there in the summers coming to Moab for the winters. He served as a deputy sheriff of Grand county for many years.
