- DEATH OF REVEREND VINCENT W. WHEELER -
Clifton Forge, Aug. 29.—
Rev. Vincent Whaley Wheeler. a retired Methodist minister of prominence, died at 8 o'clock Sunday morning in his residence on McCormick Street. His demise followed an illness of two years' duration, during the past six months of which he had been entirely helpless, although not confined to his bed altogether until the past few days.
Mr. Wheeler was born in Carroll County. Va., and was the son of Rev. and Mrs. Samuel Ruffin Wheeler, on the twenty-sixth day of September 1847 and was therefore in his sixty-eighth year.
In early life he married Miss Pollock, of Greenbrier County, W.Va., who with four children survive him. The children are: Rev. Harry V. Wheeler, pastor of the Trinity Methodist church, Cumberland, Md.; Mr. S.R. Wheeler, formerly of this city, now of Bromhurst. W.Va.; Mr. Frank H. Wheeler, of this city, and Mrs. John F. Dudley, of Florence. S.C.
The funeral services were held at 10 o'clock this morning in Central Methodist Church. The pastor, Rev. John Paul Tyler, for years an intimate friend of the deceased and family will be in charge of the service. Staunton Daily Leader, August 30, 1916.
