Mr. Robbins attended Iredell County Schools and on February 14, 1937 he married Delores Robbins in York, SC, who preceded him in death. He was a member of Race St. United Methodist Church and was employed with the US Postal Service. He was a veteran of World War II, serving the Navy and was awarded the Purple Heart he was also a member of the Odd Fellows.
He is survived by one son, Fred A. Robbins (Pat), of Greensboro and one daughter Brenda Campbell Keller, of Statesville. He is also survived by four grandsons, Anthony Robbins (Cathrine), of Greensboro, Dean Campbell, of Bakersville, NC, Dale Campbell (Melissa), of Troutman, NC and David Campbell (Melissa), of Statesville and three granddaughters, Lisa Cobb (Duane), and Dee Hashem, both of Greensboro and Danette Bolin (Scott), of Statesville. He is further survived by 11 great grandchildren and two great great grandchildren.
A funeral service for Mr. Robbins will be conducted at 3:30 Monday, August 20, 2012 at Temple Baptist Church in Statesville with Pastor Randy Mitchell officiating. Burial will follow in Oakwood Cemetery. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 2:30 until 3:30 PM at the church.
