HENRY G. BLACKWOOD
Henry George Blackwood, 93, Topeka, died Dec. 17, 1996 at a Jefferson County Memorial Geriatric Center, Winchester.
Mr. Blackwood had farmed in Gove, Stafford, and Jackson counties until he moved to Topeka in 1951 and worked as a carpenter until he retired.
He was born Aug. 18, 1903 At Idana, the son of Robert Urie and Rosetta Kerr Blackwood.
Mr. Blackwood was a member of the Reformed Presbyterian Church, Topeka, and the Topeka Chapter of the Gideons International. He was also involved in prison ministry.
He was married to Florence Jane Wright May 15, 1925 at Quinter. She died April 26, 1942. He was married to Alice Weaver Lucas Oct. 22, 1950 in Topeka. She died Aug. 22, 1980. He was married to Grace Hastings Anderson, June 11, 1981 at Winchester.She died Aug. 27, 1989. Mr. Blackwood was also preceded in death by a son, Dwayne Blackwood, a daughter, Louise Blackwood, and a Stepdaughter, Jean Lucas Ledbetter.
Survivors include three sons, Henry Blackwood, Denison, Dale Blackwood, Mayetta, and Carl Blackwood, Indianapolis; six daughters, Fern Sublette, Vista, Calif., Lois Wing, Mayetta, Alta Tweed, Winchester, Twila Cunningham, Jenison, Mich., Della Christman, Littleton, Colo., and Corajean Smiley, Jackson, Mich.; five brothers, Glenn Blackwood, McAllen, Tex., John Blackwood, Denver, Wallace Blackwood, Wichita, Ralph Blackwood, West Salem, Ohio, and Clyde Blackwood, Altus, Okla.; 46 grandchildren; 86 great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren.
Services were Dec. 19 at the Denison Reformed Presbyteran Church. Burial was at Denison Cemetery. Davidson Funeral Home, Topeka was incharge of arrangements.Memorial contributions may be made to the Topeka Reformed Presbyteran Church, 8345 SW 33rd, Topeks, 66614.
