Sarah Higgs Davis was born on November 19, 1824 to John and Rebecca Davis and baptized at Old Church, Saint Pancras, London, England, June 5, 1825. The baptismal record indicates that the family lived on Chapel Street and that John was a tailor.

On August 5, 1842, Sarah Davis was admitted to the First Presbyterian Church of Lower Sandusky (now Fremont, Ohio). Then, prior of December 1847, church records note "Sarah Davis has united with St. Paul's Church of this place."

And indeed, the records of St. Paul's Episcopal Church of Lower Sandusky show that Sarah Davies was a candidate for Confirmation on November 14, 1845, along with Mrs. Rebecca (Davis) Lary. She and Rebecca were both then admitted as Communicants on December 7.

On November 29, 1846, Sarah Davis and John Davis served as baptismal sponsors for Helen Maria and John Davis Larey, the children of the then deceased Rebecca Leary.

On March 26, 1848, Sarah H. Davis married Horace E. Clark, a member of St. Paul's Church. F.S. White officiated.

The 1850 US Census shows Sarah and Horace Clarke living in Fremont with their one-year old daughter, Kalithia. Sarah's age is 26, and her place of birth is given as England. Also living with them are three members of the Ryder family from Pennsylvania.

When Sarah died in 1851, her obituary read:
"In this town, Wednesday Evening, December 31, Mrs. Sarah H., wife of Horace E. Clark, Esq., aged 26 years.

By the death of this amiable lady a fond husband and other relations have sustained an irreparable loss; and a child of tender years is left motherless. In addition, society is bereft of one who was deservedly loved by all acquainted with her for her modest and unpretending virtues."

Although no stone for Sarah is currently standing, there is a gravestone for her husband Horace. It is standing adjacent to that of a marker placed for John W. Davis, suggesting a family connection. Also records indicate that the inscription read, "Age 26 years, 1 month, and 12 days," which would match the baptismal record birth day of November 19, although not the year.
