Walter W. Welch Succumbs In Danville

Funeral services were conducted Tuesday at 10 o'clock from the Gap Creek Baptist church for Walter W. Welch, resident of the Deep Gap community, who died Sunday in Danville, Virginia of a heart attack. Reverend Levi Greene was in charge of the services and interment was in a neighborhood cemetery.

Mr. Welch who had been employed in WIlliamsburg, Virginia for the past several months as foreman for the Foster Construction Company, was on his way to Deep Gap to spend a few days with his family whenn stricken. Information is that he stopped at a cafe in Danville for dinner and almost immediately became ill, it was stated, where he died within a few minutes.

Deceased was the son of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Welch and was reared in the Deep Gap section. He lived in Wilkes county for a number of years, returning to his home community three or four years ago. He was well known throughout this section where he had engaged for many years on road construction work.

Surviving are the widow, Mrs. Lottie Hall Welch, and six sons and daughters.
