OWENSBORO MESSENGER-INQUIRER OBITUARY – 01/30/1973
Nickolas A. Russell Jr., 81, of 414 East 4th St., died early Monday [January 29, 1973] at Owensboro-Daviess County Hospital after a lengthy illness. Born December 7, 1891 in Daviess County, he was a son of the late Nickolas & Mary Henning Russell. He was retired from Fleischmann's Distillery and was a member of St. Joseph and Paul's Parish. He was a WW I veteran. He was preceded in death by his wife, Lillian Catherine Russell in 1943. Surviving are one stepson, James Nalley of Columbus, GA; four daughters, Mrs. Joan Cox of Louisville; Mrs. Tyler Sue Scott of Owensboro; Mrs. Marjorie Hobbs of Rt. 1, Utica; Mrs. Betty Wheatley of Owensboro; one stepdaughter, Mrs. Marian Smith of Louisville; one brother, F.X. Russell and one sister, Miss Bendenna Russell, both of Owensboro; 22 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Paul Catholic Church, with the Rev. Edward A. Jones, assistant pastor, officiating. Friends may call at the Haley-McGinnis and Owensboro Funeral Home.
