I found that George W. McMahan is one of 1500 Confederate soldiers that died as a results of a variety of fevers (flu like) and dysentery at Camp Nelson, near Austin, Arkansas. I believe he was a member of Granbury's Texas Brigade, CSA, General Nelson's Division of the Texas Cavalry. Hundreds were buried in mass graves, and many re-buried in individual, unmarked graves, at a cemetery near Camp Nelson. General Nelson died shortly after arriving at the Arkansas camp, and the camp was named after him. Eugene Watson
