Hanford M. Sherrod was born in Whitley County, Indiana May 18, 1861, and departed this life July 22, 1922 at his home near Goodland, Kansas.
He lived in Columbia City, Indiana until he was 14 years of age when he moved with his parents to Decatur, Michigan, where he lived until he came to Sherman county and homesteaded in 1886. He resided here until his death.
He was married to Sarah E. Knight March 31, 1891. To this union five children were born, Augusta, Mabel, Jesse May, Henry Morton, Charles Edward and Timothy Arthur.
He leaves to mourn his loss a wife and children, one brother, Frank of this place, one sister, Mrs. W. J. McArthur of Napa, California and numerous relatives and friends.
