MIDLAND - Edward Leighton Black, 99, of 11575 Sam Black Road, died Wednesday, Oct. 17, 2007, at Avante At Concord. The family will receive friends from 5 to 6:30 p.m. Friday at Hartsell Funeral Home, Midland. The funeral will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Bethel United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Mark Clontz officiating. Burial will be at Bethel United Methodist Church Cemetery, Midland. Mr. Black was born Aug. 16, 1908, in Cabarrus County, the son of the late Edward Payson Black and the late Laura Washington (Black) Black. He was self employed in auto body repair. He was preceded in death by his wife, Agnes Estelle (Small) Black. Survivors include his son, Henry Edward Black and wife, Connie, of Midland; daughter, Ann Eaves and husband, Gene, of Concord; grandchildren, Cheryl Black, Anson Eaves, Tracy Waterhouse and Karla Eaves; and five great-grandchildren. Memorials may be made to Bethel United Methodist Church Building Fund, 12700 Idlebrook Road, Midland, NC 28107. Arrangements by Hartsell Funeral Home, Midland.
