Ronald Theodore Fortune, 65 years, of Montrose, Iowa died at 4:15 pm Monday, August 20, 2012 at the Great River Hospice House, West Burlington, Iowa. Ronald was born December 9, 1946 at Fort Madison, Iowa, the son of James and Marie (Kuhlmeier) Fortune. On September 22, 1990, he married Pauline Tutwiler Rippenkroeger at Nauvoo, Illinois. She survives.

He worked in production at Sheaffer Pen Co. for 39 years. He is a member of the Moose Lodge, Eagles, Izaak Walton, Tri State Gun Club, National Rifleman Association, Knights of Columbus and the St. Joseph Catholic Church, Montrose, Iowa.

Ronald is survived by his wife, Pauline Fortune, of Montrose, Iowa, one son, two daughters, one brother, four sisters, six grandchildren; nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, James Fortune and two grandsons, Christopher and Paul.

Friends may call after 1:00 pm Thursday, August 23, 2012 at the Barr Memorial Chapel, Fort Madison, Iowa. Visitation will be held at the Barr Memorial Chapel from 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm Thursday evening, where a Rosary will be recited at 4:00 pm and a Christian Wake Service at 6:00 pm. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 am Friday, August 24, 2012 at the St. Joseph Catholic Church, Montrose, with Father Mark Spring, as celebrant. Burial will be at the Sacred Heart Cemetery, Fort Madison, Iowa. A memorial has been established, contributions may be made at the Barr Memorial Chapel.
