Edward Doris, plus his father Thomas and brother,Bernard,founded Doris Jewelers (later Doris Diamonds)in 1940. In the 1960s, Doris Jewelers maintained a vibrant presence on Broad Street in downtown Augusta. With the decline of Broad Street, ownership of what is still known as the Doris Building changed hands several times. After going through a bank foreclosure in 2013, the Doris Building was renovated in 2014-15 to serve as the home of the Redemption Church, as well as a multi-use public event facility.
