Ambrose Burton was the son of William L. Burton and Lucretia Kissee. Mr. Burton was married twice and had 16 children and about 100 Granchildren. Many residents of Adair County today can trace their ancestry back to this man. Often referred to as "Gooley" Burton. This nickname has been handed down to his descendents. he was first married in 1876 to Serena Goodin and after her death he remarried to Martha "Patsey" Burton in 1897. Mr. Burton was long time farmer in Adair County.
