JOSEPH "JOE" O. RICE, 84, of Fort Wayne, passed away peacefully on Monday, Aug. 20, 2012, at Parkview Regional Medical Center, Fort Wayne. The Fort Wayne native was the son of the late Joseph A. and Ethel Rice. He retired from B.F. Goodrich in 1989 after 23 years of service. "Joe was an avid Cubs fan, a wonderful, caring and fun husband, dad, grandpa, and great-grandpa." He is survived by his wife of almost 62 years, Arlene (nee. Torbeck); children, Craig (Ann) Rice of Angola, Cinda Beber (Darry Reinhart) of Hoagland and Curt (Beckie) Rice of San Diego, Calif.; grandchildren, Lindsay, Chelsea and Courtney Rice, and Stacy and Kelly Beber; great-grand-daughter, Kyra Dickmeyer; brothers, Robert Rice of North Ft. Myers, Fla. and Harold (Dorla) Rice of Fort Wayne; and brother-in-law, Filbert Torbeck of New Haven. He was preceded in death by siblings, Esther, Nellie, John, Otto, and Roscoe. Funeral service is 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Trinity Suburban Lutheran Church, 7819 Decatur Road, Fort Wayne, with calling one hour prior. Calling also from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Klaehn, Fahl & Melton Funeral Home, Winchester Road Chapel, 6424 Winchester Road, Fort Wayne. Burial in Concordia Cemetery Gardens.
