Albert C. Goll, 82, of Cresco, died Tuesday morning, April 11, in Pocono Medical Center, East Stroudsburg. He was the husband of Gertrude E. "Trudy" (Long) Goll to whom he was married since March 24, 1946.
Born on April 2, 1918, in Paradise Valley, he was the son of the late Samuel and Laura M. (Price) Goll and had lived in Paradise Valley all of his life.
He had worked on the Paradise Township Road Maintenance crew; worked in construction at Mt. Airy Lodge; and also worked at the Paradise Trout Hatchery.
Al was a veteran of the United States Army having served during World War II earning multiple Purple Hearts.
He was a member of the Evans Blitz Post 922 American Legion in Canadensis; the National Rifle Association; a life-member of the Laurel Hill Rod & Gun Club; the Stoney Run Rod & Gun Club; a life-member of the Disabled American Veterans, Cherokee Chapter 43; an honorary member of the PA Sheriff Association; the Utica Lodge 47 F&AM in Utica, N.Y.; and the Mt. Pocono Volunteer Fire Department.
Surviving in addition to his wife are a son, Samuel Goll and his wife, Betsy, of Cresco; two granddaughters, Kelly Goll and Alyson Goll, both of Cresco; and a sister, Winifred Goll, a resident of Hillcrest Nursing Home in Bartonsville. He was preceded in death by a son, William A. Goll in 1990.
Memorial services will be held on Friday, April 14, at 11 a.m. at the Canadensis United Methodist Church with the Rev. Russell E. Walters officiating. Private burial will take place in the Keokee Chapel Cemetery in Paradise Valley.
The family has requested that memorial contributions be made to the Paradise Youth Association, c/o RD 1, Box 351, Cresco, PA 18326.
