Calvin, an 18-yr-old farmer, enlisted 14 Jan 1864 as Private in the 2nd Co. K, 46 Regiment Virginia Infantry (Wise Brigade). He had blue eyes, light hair, fair complection, and was 6 feet tall. On 15 Jun 1864, he was wounded in action and left in the hands of the 'enemy'. He was thereafter listed as absent-Prisoner of War and disappeared from all official records.
