Clara Kathleen Hilton Bowman Abee, 90 passed away, Saturday, February 22, 2014 at Catawba Valley Medical Center.
Born November 2, 1923 in Catawba County, she was the daughter of the late Fred Hilton and Jennie Yount Hilton. Mrs. Abee attended of Christ Lutheran Church and retired from U. S. Hosiery as a Quality Control Supervisor.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her first husband, Ernest Lee Bowman and her second husband, Vertis Abee; a brother, Fredric Hilton.
Mrs. Abee is survived by 3 daughters: Patricia Bowman Sherrill and husband Hoyle of Taylorsville, NC, Brenda Bowman Proctor and husband Dean of Hickory, Thesta Bowman LaFevre and husband Donel of Hickory; a son, Harold L. Bowman and wife Dianne of Nashville, TN; 10 grandchildren: Tamara Sherrill of Myrtle Beach, SC, Tracy Sherrill Cartrette and husband Danny of Yadkinville, NC, Sherry Csobady, Kimberly Proctor Buckner and husband Jason, Elizabeth Proctor Gaither and husband Jay, Timothy Lail and wife Sandy, Joseph Lail and wife Becky all of Hickory, NC, Linda B. Murray and husband Jim of Boston, MA, Leslie B. Suitter and husband Danny of Kentucky, Rick Bowman and wife Michelle of Oswega, NY; 15 great-grandchildren: Dustin Lee Jackson, Taylor Csobody, Ana-Len Csobady, Joe Cartrette, John Cartrette, Amelia Gaither, Andrew Gaither, William Gaither, Nicholas Gaither, Taylor Buckner, Jennifer Lail, Steven Lail, Daniel Suitter, Joshua Bowman and Sarah B. Sarlo.
A funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM on Monday, March 3, 2014 in the Chapel of Bass-Smith Funeral Home with Pastor Richard Schwandt officiating. Burial will follow at St. Stephens Lutheran Church MO Synod Cemetery.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service from 1:00 to 2:00 PM at Bass-Smith Funeral Home.
