He was the oldest son of George Washington Brannon and Celia Rebecca GREEN-Brannon.
Celia was the daughter of James Gideon Green, Jr. and Arabella Mixson. James Gideon Jr. was a a Civil War Veteran: Co. G., 3rd Regt Inf., CSA (War of Northern Aggression)
Many of his relatives are interred at Poor Spot Cemetery in Perry, Florida

COPY OF OBIT: James Brannen James Washington Brannen, 97, of Perry died Sunday at Tallahassee Community Hospital. The service will be at 2 p.m. today at New Home Baptist Church, with burial at Pisgah Cemetery. A lifelong resident of Taylor County, he was a millwright for Weaver-Loughridge Lumber Co. Also, he worked for the County Road Department in Perry for 15 years, was a U.S. Army veteran of World War I and a deacon of New Home Baptist Church. He is survived by three sons, Yancie Brannen and Arthur Brannen, both of Perry and Wiley Brannen of Americus, Ga.; a sister, Ruby Woods of Perry; six grandchildren; 13 greatgrandchildren; and eight great-greatgrandchildren.
