Dorothy J. Hanke, 84, of Minneapolis and formerly of Paynesville, died on Thursday, Oct. 3, 2002, at the Monticello Big Lake Community Nursing Home in Monticello.

Funeral services were held on Monday, Oct. 7, at the Daniel-Anderson Funeral Home in Paynesville. Reverend Richard Koehn officiated. Burial was in the Paynesville Cemetery.

Dorothy was born Sept. 28, 1918, in Gliddon, Iowa, to Floyd and Linda (Howe) Bruntlett. She married Sylvester Hanke on Feb. 27, 1941. They lived and farmed in the Paynesville area until 1945 when they moved to Minneapolis. While in Minneapolis she worked at Dayton's Department Store.

Her survivors include her daughters, Gloria (Cassel) Anderson of Buffalo and Nancy (Jim) Harvey of Paynesville; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; her brother, Ken (June) Bruntlett of Paynesville; and her sister-in-law, Evelyn Bruntlett of Paynesville.

Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband in 1985; sister, Mildred McCoy; and brother, Dale Bruntlett.
