Funeral services for Mrs. Martha Etta Proffitt,81,who died at the home of her son,Homer Proffitt,Tuesday night will be held at the Athens Baptist Church,with Bro.C.E.Carter and the Rev.Lucien E, Coleman,Jr. will officiate.
Mrs. Proffitt had been ill for the past four months. She was the daughter of the late John Thomas and the late Mrs Katherine Mitchell Thomas.Her husband was the late Perry Proffitt.
Besides her son,Monroe County Jailer Homer Proffitt,she is survived by five daughters,Mrs. Pearl Marrs,Nashville,Ind.,Mrs.Maud Denham,Mrs. Vella Murry and Mrs. Flossie Turner,all of Tompkinsville,and Mrs. Dossie Yokley,of Albany.
She is also survived by a brother,Jim Thomas,of Tompkinsville;two half-sisters,Mrs. Lottie Sims,of Auburn,and Mrs. Lucille Condra,of Indianapolis,Ind.,and her stepmother,Mrs Ida Thomas, of Auburn.
