(Click on photos for larger images and more detail.) Son of Isaac Henry Bosman and Annie Haskis Skillman. Brother of Robert Isaac Bosman, George Washington Bosman, and William McGee Bosman. When a youth, he moved to Norfolk, VA, with his parents. His educational training ended in a five-year course at Randolph-Macon College, at Ashland, VA. In the year 1884, he entered the Virginia Conference as a Preacher on Trial and was assigned to the Atlantic City charge, in the city of Norfolk. This charge is now known as Lekies Memorial Church. Following 2 years at this church he was sent to Newport News. He married Mary (Mamie) LeCato on Dec. 25th., 1888. The couple had two children, Robert LeCato Bosman, and George LeCato Bosman. Thereafter, he served in order the following churches and districts: Salisbury; Culpeper Court House; Wright Memorial, Portsmouth; Mount Vernon, Danville; Park Place, now known as Pace Memorial, Richmond; Ghent, Norfolk; Market Street, Petersburg; Monumental, Portsmouth; Main Street, Suffolk; Farmville; Larchmont, Norfolk; Presiding Elder, Eastern Shore District; Larchmont, Norfolk; and closed fifty years in the active ministry with a four-year term as Presiding Elder of the Norfolk District. In June of the year 1912, in recognition of the faithful and efficient service which he had rendered the church, Randolph-Macon College conferred upon him the Doctor of Divinity degree. He was a man of average stature and weight, a decided brunette, an open countenance which admitted him at once into the confidence of all people.
