The son of George & Susanna Trone, in 1860, he was a bricklayer living in Shippensburg, Cumberland County, but his ARIAS card claims he was living in York County. He stood 5' 9" tall and had dark hair and gray eyes.
A Civil War veteran, he enlisted in Newville, Cumberland County, August 8, 1861, and mustered into federal service at Washington DC August 17 as a private with Co. H, 3rd Pennsylvania Cavalry (60th Pa). He was wounded at Warrenton, Virginia, likely while on a scout to capture Maj. John S. Mosby's men, and died from the effects of his injuries.
