Baptist Minister, 83, Oldest Cades Cove Resident
MARYVILLE, Sept. 13 --- The Rev. William Howell Oliver, pastor of Trinity Baptist Church in Cades Cove, died today at the home of a daughter, Mrs. George Taylor, Wallins Road.
Mr. Oliver was the oldest resident of Cades Cove. He was born there 83 years ago and had lived there all his life. Much of the land he owned is now in Great Smoky Mountains National Park.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Sunday at his church. Surviving: six children, George of Loudon; John W. of Townsend; Mrs. Martha A. Roberts, Mrs. E. Rebecca Myers, Mrs. Lucy M. Sharp, Maryville; and Mrs. Taylor.
