Married Martha Ann Harvey 18 Apr 1835 Limestone County Alabama, she was born in Tennessee. She died in Nov 1850 from Pneumonia in Tallahatchie Mississippi. She was only 23 years old.

Son of Absolom and Cynthia Caroline Seale Mauldin. Moved with all of his family to Pontotoc County Mississippi. He also lived in Itawamba County and moved to Tippah County where he was living when the Civil War started.

He joined the 39th Reg Company E, GA Volunteers, served from 8th day of July 1863 until the battle of Jonesboro, Georgia, Sept 1st, 1864. He was one of 3,705 men killed. Originally men were buried where they fell and had a placed marker, but the cemetery relocated the men and all but three of the markers were lost. Researched Civil War records have verified that John Wesley Mauldin fought on these grounds and was buried here.
