Death Due to Infirmities of Age, He Being 93 Years Old--Member of
Van Buren Baptist Church--Came From Pennsylvania

Death came to Elijah Mellotte, 93 years, at 3 o'clock Sunday afternoon. He had been confined to his bed for about two weeks with infirmities of age.

Mr. Mellotte was born Dec. 12, 1820, in Pennsylvania. He moved to Hancock county in 1855 and has lived here since. He married in 1841 Miss Jane Kline. His wife died in 1893 ( actual was 1891). He was a member of the Van Buren Baptist church. He had been a blacksmith and farmer in his youth.

He is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Rozena Jolly (Jelly), of West Salem, O., and three sons, Charles (K) Mellotte Findlay; George Mellotte, of Toledo, and (John) Henry Mellotte, of Allen Township.

The funeral will be held at 1 o'clock Tuesday afternoon at the Van Buren Baptist church, Elder Dove officiating. He will be buried in the Van Buren cemetery.
