Coral Belle McGrew was born to Birdie Permelia (Hart) and Earl Finley McGrew on October 23, 1901 in Stuart, Holt County, Nebraska. Birdie and Earl divorced. Coral’s mother, Birdie, then married Ernest “Grant” Curtis in 1902 Stuart, Holt, Nebraska when she was 1 year old.

The same year The Curtis Family moved to Spearfish, Lawrence County, South Dakota and lived a brief time at Beaulah, Crook County, Wyoming before returning to South Dakota. Grant was a sheep rancher. Coral took the Curtis name because on her kids social security applications their mother is listed as Coral Curtis.

“Cora” was married to Henry William Sprague on November 11, 1918 at Deadwood, Lawrence County, South Dakota. By 1958 they were living in Marysville, Yuba City, California. She died in Butte County,CA and is buried in Memorial Park Cemetery in Oroville, Butte County, California.
