BREWER – Sarah E., also known as the former Betty Gallo to many, 87, Main Street, Wilmore, died Jan. 6, 2009, at Memorial Medical Center. Born Aug. 2, 1921, in Wilpen, Pa., daughter of Louis and Margaret May (Taylor) Roddy. Preceded in death by parents; husband, Harry Brewer; stepmother, Margaret (Wilt) Roddy; daughter, Sylvia (Gallo) Thompson; granddaughter, Sonja J. Chernicky; grandson, Elmer Junior Thompson; brothers, Ronald and Tom Roddy; and sister, Darlene Goodwin. Survived by daughter, Constance “Connie” (Gallo), wife of Samuel Chernicky, Summerhill; son, Michael Gallo, married to Penny (Mathias), Mineral Point; grandchildren: Samuel Chernicky, Robert Chernicky, Jeff Thompson, Beverly Thompson, Michael J. Gallo, David Gallo, Daniel Gallo and Shelly Gallo; step-grandchildren: Melissa, Mandy, Stacey and Todd; great-grandchildren: Saundra and Haylee Chernicky, Andy, Genie, Dominic and Kylie Gallo, Christian Thompson and Cassius Ferguson; sisters, Frances Yatsky, South Fork; and Midge, wife of Jim Cooper, Salix; brother, Don Roddy, married to Nancy, Fremont, Ohio; and numerous nieces and nephews. Sarah retired from Laurel Crest Manor as a nurse’s aide after 18 years. She was a member of St. Bartholomew Catholic Church, Wilmore, and served on Wilmore Borough Council for eight years. Sarah was very active with the Democratic Committee Women. Friends will be received from 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday and 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday at Charles O. Dimond Funeral Home Inc., South Fork, where vigil for the deceased will be held Thursday afternoon. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Friday at St. Bartholomew Catholic Church, Wilmore, by Father Charles F. Bodziak. Committal, South Fork Cemetery.
