GALION: Elizabeth D. "Bette" Quay, 93, of Galion, died Tuesday, Aug. 14, 2012 at Mill Creek Nursing Center in Galion.

Born May 16, 1919 in Galion, she was the daughter of the late John M. and Minnie (Mayer) Deibig.

Her first marriage was to Fred L. Kruger on Nov. 24, 1938 and in 1984 they relocated to Fairfield Glade, Tenn., where he passed away Oct. 24, 1988. On Nov. 14, 1992 she married a former 1937 Galion High School classmate, Dr. Robert C. Quay. He passed away Nov. 22, 1999.

A life-long member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Galion, Bette was a member of the Rosary Alter Society. She was also a member of Galion Community Hospital Auxiliary, Twig 7 and the Galion Country Club. Bette was office manager at Cook's Electric in Galion for 20 years.

Surviving are two sons and daughters-in-law, Fred L., II and Patty Kruger of Springfield, Va. and Ted J. and Paula Kruger of Galion; one daughter-in-law, Karen M. Kruger of Broken Arrow, Okla.; two stepdaughters and spouses, Cynthia and Donald Paynter of Upper Arlington and Christine and Terrence Baehr, of Hilton Head Island, S.C.; 15 grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, and husbands; she was preceded in death by her son, Edward L. Kruger. She was the last surviving sibling; having three brothers; and four sisters precede her.

Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday Aug. 17, 2012 at Richardson-Davis Funeral Home in Galion. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 18, 2012 at St. Joseph Catholic Church with Father John Miller, celebrant. Interment will be in Mt. Calvary Cemetery in Galion.

Vigil services will be held at 8 p.m. Friday at Richardson-Davis Funeral Home with Deacon Greg Kirk.
