Carrie was the daughter of Doc and Pearl Brown. She was educated in the Dooly County School System. She attended the Gillespie-Selden School of Nursing where she earned her degree in Nursing. She was employed as a Nurse with the Crisp County Hospital (later named Crisp Regional Hospital) in Cordele, Georgia. She was a member of the Greater Morris Tabernacle Baptist Church in Cordele, Georgia. She was also an active member of the American Legion Post #542 Women's Auxiliary where she served as President and Treasurer.
She was preceded in death by 1 son, Harold Brown Sr who preceded her in death on June 17, 2006.

1 Daughter-In-Law: Mattie Mumphery Brown.
7 Devoted Friends: Reverend James C. Baker, Gladys Williams, James Russell Hawkins, Freddie Rhodes, Wilma Robinson, Brenda Faye Powell and Janice Gail Henderson.
5 Devoted Godchildren: Gwen Gaskins, Rhondalyn West, Easter Mae Sanders, Charles Hamilton and Thelma Harvey.
3 Grandchildren: Harold Brown Jr, Ralph Brown and Vannetta Walker.
5 Great Grandchildren: Valencia, Deloran, Xavier, Jalan and Savion.
