Roy Bennett, 76 of Fort Plain, RD3 (Hessville), was stricken at his home and pronounced dead at Little Falls Hospital on Nov. 14, 1975.

He was born July 27,1899 in Johnstown, NY. son of Mark and Mina Bassett Bennett .

He was a self employed dairy farmer for most of his working life, and lived in the Town of Canajoharie until moving to Hessville nearly 40 years ago.

Roy went to school through the 6th grade. He was always studying and learning. Roy was a farmer raised chickens and he had an egg route. He taught himself to play the violin.

He was a carpenter and mason , he built several houses, barns and garages in the area. He also worked on the construction of the NYS Thruway and The South Minden Fire House.

Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Albert (Mabel) Scott of Fort Plain, RD3; a son Cyrus Duesler of Dolgeville; 8 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren.

Final resting place in Freysbush Cemetery.

We were so lucky to have such a wonderful grandfather. He taught us so much about life and showed us how we could do anything we put our mind to. We were so lucky to grow up with him in our life everyday because he chose to share his home and life with our family.
