David Rea married Saida (sic) Skidmore and Ruth Skidmore, "but not both at once". (160) David Rea married Shady Skidmore on December 20, 1820, in Logan County, Ohio, Book 1, Page 7. (47) Daniel (sic) Ray (sic) married ----- Scidmond (sic) December 20, 1820, by John Garwood, Esq. (7) Shady Skidmore was the daughter of William A. and Mary (Randall) Skidmore. Shady was born July 1, 1800, (one source said in Columbiana County, Ohio; however her son John W. Rea in the 1880 Census said his mother was born in Pennsylvania; yet she had brothers on either side of her age who were said to be born in Virginia). "David and Shelia (Sic) Rea were early pioneers in Logan County. David secured his land through profits of a sugar camp. For his auger used in tapping sugar trees, he paid two coon skins, and was compelled to go to Urbana, Ohio, a distance of twenty miles, to get the auger. He cleared the land and built a log cabin where they made their home." David and Shady Rea had one child as follows:

1. John W. Rea born September 8, 1821 in Logan County, Ohio. John Rea married Lucinda Wait October 20, 1842. John Rea died January 27, 1897 in Starke County, Indiana.

Shady (Skidmore) Rea died September 12, 1821, at the birth of John W.

On February 20, 1823, David Rea married Ruth Skidmore, the sister of his first wife Shady. Ruth Skidmore was the daughter of William A. and Mary (Randall) Skidmore. The marriage took place in Logan County, Ohio. Ruth was born April 11, 1806. David and Ruth (Skidmore) Rea had twelve children.
