Blake Dobson, or "Papa" to his beloved grandchildren, was born on September 24th, 1931 in Tahlequah, OK the son of Harry Lee and Lydia Ellen (Fortner) Dobson. He attended school at Union School at Stick Ross Mountain. Blake was working as a service station attendant at Holden Service Station in Tahlequah when he was called to serve his country in the United States Army. On March 5th, 1958, he enlisted as a Light Weapons Infantryman and served honorably until his discharge on February 9th, 1960. He married the love of his life, Irene Bean, August 1962, and together, they raised a family of four children. Blake was a Fee's Collector for the Sanitation Department of Tahlequah City. He loved his job and joking with his co-workers. Whenever he had the chance, "Papa" could be found out in his yard, working in his garden or tending to his flock of chickens. There was always a good evening to go coon hunting. He enjoyed watching his favorite teams, OU and Dallas, playing football. He had a joke to tell every time you saw him. If you needed a friend that saw life from the sunnyside, Blake was that friend. He seldom demonstrated a cross word to anyone and had the smile that made you feel good about the day. Prehaps it was his children and grandchildren that made him smile that way. He adored them and any activity that they tried, he was there for support. A Baptist by faith, Blake was a member of Ft. Gibson Baptist Church in Ft. Gibson. The Lord called Blake home from his labors on Tuesday , August 14th, 2012 in Tahlequah, with his wife and children by his side. Blake was 80 years old.
