"KNOW IT!" "FIGHT IT!" "END IT!"

From the time David was born, we always knew he would be a mechanic. He loved messing with cars with his Dad and Papaw Short. Many times his diapers were covered in grease, with his Papaw telling me not to yell at him, he was going to be a mechanic. :) He graduated in 1983 from Greenfield High School. Went to work and later met the love of his life, Jamie. They married in August 25, 1985.

He later went thru the Ford Motor Co. Assets program. Being TOP of his class and hands on training. He could tell you a problem with your car by listening to it run. After working on Fords for awhile, he started working on Accuras. He was proud of what he did and was good at any of them. Eventually David earned top honors as a Master Mechanic.

David was easy going and loved his family. To him his family was first always. He adored his wife and children! He worked hard to provide them what they wanted and needed. He loved his friends. If you were a friend, you were a friend forever.

Little did we know there would be rough times ahead for all of us. In January, 2010, David was "misdiagnosed" for gall bladder problems and his gall bladder was removed in January, 2010. He never did actually get to feeling better and on August 25, 2010, their 25th Anniversary and after more tests, he was diagnosed with Pancreatic Cancer and the fight was on. After 23 radiation treatments and many chemo treatments, David lost his battle 7 mos. 4 days after diagnosis.

We often wonder if it would have been different had we got the right diagnosis in the first place. That little spot the doctor seen, that was nothing to worry about, took him from us. David is and was loved by many. He touched many lives in his short time on earth. I know that he was only on loan for awhile, then God recalled the loan but I never thought I would bury a child and was devastated. He leaves behind a legacy that will be hard to fill. David is missed by family and friends every day.

Watching his son grow up, is like watching him all over again. We know he waits just beyond the gates of Heaven for us but it doesn't lessen missing him. He will always be "Dady" to me and in the quiet moments, I hear him say "Mother" as only he could. I miss by big hugs from my teddy bear but one day I will feel those big hugs again.

Our hearts still ache with sadness
And secret tears still flow
What it meant to lose you
No one will ever know

Since you'll never be forgotten
Our pledge to you today
A hallowed place within our hearts
For there is where you'll always stay.
