William "Joe" Stitt, 67, of Kittanning RD 7, died at 9:30 p.m. Saturday at Montefiore Hospital, Pittsburgh. A son of the late George and Pearl (Rupert) Stittt, he was born April 4, 1910 in Manor Township. He was a retired employe [sic] of PPG Industries, Ford City, where he worked for 28 years. Surviving are: his wife, Mildred (Wagaman) Stitt; one son, Roger D. of Kittanning RD 7: two step-sons, Charles Cogley of Kittanning MR 10 and Grant Cogley of Ford City RD 1; two step daughters, Mrs. Robert (Sonnie) Clager of Coraopolis and Mrs. Richard (Norma) Chenoga of Butler; six brothers, Charles of Ford Cliff, Edwin of Kittanning RD 1, Grant of Cheswick, Henry of Charleroi, James of Canton, Georgia and Stanley of Philadelphia; two sisters, Mrs. James (Caroline) Fox and Mrs. David (Rita) Vensel, both of Ford City RD 1; four grandchildren; and one grand-daughter. His first wife, the former Gladys Corbett, died in 1962, and his second wife, Georgetta Cogley, in 1969. STITT - Friends of William "Joe" Stitt, who died May 14, 1977, will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Monday and Tuesday at the Amberson C. Bauer Funeral Home, Kittanning. Service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home, conducted by the Rev. Charles J. Wheeler, pastor of the Nazarene Church of Kittanning. Burial will be in Lawn Haven Burial Estates, East Franklin Township. Arrangements by Bauer.
