∼Lifetime Monte Vista, Colo. resident Jo Anne Kurys, 51, died Jan. 31, 2008 at the San Luis Valley Regional Medical Center in Alamosa, Colo.
Jo Anne was born June 26, 1956 in Monte Vista the daughter of Fred Kipp and Mary (Odgers) Orton. She married her husband of 17 years, Joseph P. Kurys, on May 4, 1990 in Monte Vista.
Jo Anne worked for many years as a line operator for the phone company and was also a homemaker. She was an avid fisherman who enjoyed spending time in the mountains and mushroom hunting. She loved the challenge of a good crossword puzzle and enjoyed card games, especially solitaire. Jo Anne also loved animals and cared for many cats and dogs.
She is survived by her husband Joseph Kurys of Monte Vista; her step-son Shelby (Leslie) Kurys of Salt Lake City, Utah; her sisters Betsy (Jim) Smith of Grand Junction, Colo. and Linda (Milt) Trosper of Alamosa, as well as by her granddaughter Ashley Kurys. She is preceded in death by both parents.
Cremation was chosen, and a memorial service will be held at a later date. Rogers Family Mortuary of Monte Vista is in care of the arrangements.
