Mrs. Vernona Ann Wampler

Mrs. Vernona Ann Wampler, 83, of Carrollton, died Sunday May 4 at Resthaven Nursing Home.

Mrs. Wampler was born July 3, 1896 near Carrollton, the daughter of Thomas Marvin and Emma Melissa Quilleh Parkins. She was married to Orville J. Wampler, Feb. 21, 1920 in Bogard. Her husband preceded her in death Nov. 22, 1972.

Mrs. Wampler received her education at the Center Grove rural school, Carrollton High School and Warrensburg Teachers College. She and her husband owned and operated the Mandeville Grocery Store for three years. She was a member of the Mandeville United Methodist Church and a charter member of the Mandeville Merry Mixers Extension Club.

Survivors include three sons, Levern Wampler, Carrollton; Levere Wampler, Hale and Richard Wampler, Lubbock, Tex.; two daughters, Mrs. Joe (Ruth Ann) Isaacs, Bogard, and Mrs. Roland (Dorothy Lee) Syles, Sunnyside, Wash.; a brother, Marvin Parkins, Carrollton; 14 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a daughter, Geneva; a grandson and a sister.

Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Mandeville United Methodist Church by the Rev. Dick McCreight and the Rev. Linda Anderson. Burial will be in Ebenezer Cemetery.

Friends may call from 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at the Gibson-Rice Chapel in Bogard.
