Bettye was born in Monroe, LA on March 26, 1927, to Olen and Gladys Tucker. She departed from this earth on August 14, 2012. She was a charter member of the volunteers at North Monroe Hospital and worked in that capacity for 26 years. She was affectionately referred to as "The Sunshine Lady" and "Sarge". Everyone knew if she was there by her voice, which carried down the halls.
Mrs. Bennett was preceded in death by her parents, Jack and Gladys Blanks; and her daughter, Kristy Bennett Dean.
Survivors include her husband of 63 years, Larry Bennett; daughter, Becky Bennett Kilcrease and husband Ronnie of Sterlington, LA; grandchildren, Connie Borden McCarter and husband Steve of Lakeland, FL; and Seth Borden of Monroe, LA; great grandchildren, Paul Michael and Stormie Gilliland of Lakeland, FL.
