Joseph "Jody" Ayers
Joseph David "Jody" Ayers, 63, of New Castle died Thursday, Aug. 27, 2009, at his home.
He was born in Shelbyville and worked for the Kentucky Department of Transportation and Department of Highways. He was a member of Union Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by his father, William Holbert "Shorty" Ayers; a son, William Jay "Pete" Ayers; and sisters Brenda June Yount, Patricia Ann Yeary and Barbara Jean Ayers.
He is survived by his mother, Roxie Lee Wilder Ayers of Frankfort; sons Sterling Scott "Stumpie" Ayers of Eminence and David Jackson Ayers of New Castle; a daughter, Melissa Denine "Missy" Ayers of Eminence; brothers Billy Max Ayers of Frankfort, James Douglas Ayers and Delburn Gene "Tommy" Ayers both of Pleasureville and Edward Dwain Ayers of Shelbyville; sisters Nancy Lee Estes and Mary Louise Reese both of Frankfort; six grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
The funeral was Sunday at Sholar Funeral Home of Pleasureville with The Rev. Nick Coleman officiating. Burial was in Pleasureville Cemetery. Expressions of sympathy may be made to the American Cancer Society, Henry County Chapter, c/o Dorothy Norvell, 289 College St. New Castle 40050.
